YEE-HAW, BABY!!!

Isn't it every little boys dream to ride a....

CHICKEN???

Thanks, Gigi, for the fun costume!

Cookies with my Friend

My baby and I partied today making cookies for Pack Night. He's the BEST! He rolled the dough, cut the circles, and then he'd say,
"I sure like you, mom.
Do you need a kiss?"
But of course! Who can refuse a sugar cookie KISS? Love this boy!!Working hard...

A sample of cookie dough...

The finished product---Rydge is a good 'sprinkler'.

The BEST practice EVER!!!

As Ty got into the car today
he said with a HUGE grin,
"That was the BEST PRACTICE EVER!"

Tyler had his dream practice today...in the pouring rain. It's been his dream since he started football to be able to slide around and get tackled in the mud. Well, his dream came true. I think the coaches came up with the absolutely messiest, muddy drills they could. I picked Ty up looking like this - and this was after coaches had them stand under the showers for awhile. (His pants are NORMALLY WHITE!) Funny boy!
Oh- And the laundry...NOT FUNNY!

Fall Baseball comes to an end

Kyle has had a fantabulous Fall baseball season---they finished 8-1-1!! Way to go ASTROS! Instead of us convincing him to play this fall, he begged us to play-
and what a fun season it has been!
Way to go, Kyle!

Kyle and his buddy, Sammy.

Kyle up to bat. Got this photo right before he hit his first TRIPLE of the season!

Tribute to Anne....

In talking about Anne of Green Gables (see post below), I got all nostalgic...
The scenery is so lovely and calming...

The characters are real and wonderful....
I LOVE THIS STORY!!!

Wish these pics were bigger.

I LOVE GILBERT BLYTHE!!!!!!

My SIX things...

Okay, so here they are. In trying to think about six things that make me an individual, I realized how really BORING I am, sorry.

1. I LOVE power naps. Any day that I can work it into my schedule (around 1-2pm) I lay on the couch and Rydge and I have "quiet time". I usually read for about 5 minutes and then fall into a quick, deep sleep for about 20. It's WONDERFUL!!! And REFRESHING!!!!

2. I adore the movie and novels "Anne of Green Gables". I watch it/ read the books at least once a year. It's wholesome, sweet, funny, romantic...all of the good stuff! In fact, it's about time for an Anne fix! (The "Emily" series is great, too.)

3. I have a habit that my kids HATE! I slap them all of the time. {That sounds harsh- they are quick soft little tap/slaps :)} There is something about their soft skin, hair, etc... that just makes me want to slap! By the time they are about six months old, they are totally oblivious to the slapping. Now it's just embarrassing to them...sorry kiddos.

4. I absolutley LOATHE being HOT. UG>>>>>Washington was heaven on earth for me...overcast, cool....ahhhhh. Texas is testing me big time.

5. Something that brings me great pleasure is MAIL! I love a handwritten letter, a package, catalogs, magazines, b-day cards, and ESPECIALLY Christmas cards - they're my favorite part of Christmas!!

6. Among my many flaws, I was an accomplished BURPer as a youth. I was so accomplished, in fact, that at one point I could burp the entire ABC's in ONE burp. Yuck, I know. I'm afraid Maddie may have inherited this talent as well. Oy.

That's it...now you really know RANI! :)

How can I be 3 places at one time???

I'm sure most of you out there are no stranger to this tale...
Today Maddie had a choir concert, Kyle had a baseball game (7-0 undefeated for the season!), and Tyler had a basketball clinic -
ALL at 11:00 am!!
How many places can we be at one time?? I went to Maddie's concert (thus the picture).
Spencer took Kyle (Thanks Gigi and Bubs for your support!). Ty got DROPPED OFF> It was a great busy day!

What a gorgeous gal!!!

Words to Live By...

"Gratitude expressed to our Heavenly Father in prayer for what we have brings a calming peace—a peace which allows us to not canker our souls for what we don't have. Gratitude brings a peace that helps us overcome the pain of adversity and failure. Gratitude on a daily basis means we express appreciation for what we have now without qualification for what we had in the past or desire in the future. A recognition of and appreciation for our gifts and talents which have been given also allows us to acknowledge the need for help and assistance from the gifts and talents possessed by others."--Robert D. Hales

American Girl....

This summer Gigi orchestrated a fabulous trip to the American Girl Doll Store in Dallas with the three oldest grand-daughters. The girls all slaved to save up their money (and with some help from Gigi) were all able to buy the doll of their choice!

They had SO much fun!!!

Waiting (and playing) at the entrance of Bath and Body Works while Gigi and I hit a great sale! :)

Three SUPER happy girls!

Chippendale Dancer????

Kyle caught Rydge busting a move on video the other night. He is the FUNNIEST dancer! My brothers are both convinced he has a future at Chippendale's. I told them we're just sticking to church dances...and we'll make sure he wears a shirt!

(Sorry about the dark pic...I haven't taught the photographer how to turn the light on the camcorder yet...)

TYLER'S TOUCHDOWN!!!

Ty had a FANTASTIC first official football game.He made TWO touchdowns and one two point conversion. Final score was 20 to 19 - Doerre Warriors (Ty's school!) He's #43...look over towards the right of the screen. It's a bit hard to see...sorry.

Nostalgic...

I was going through some old pictures today~wondering how it is that time seems to crawl, but simultaneously flies by so quickly I don't know where it's gone and I find myself aching for times long gone. The Elmer's had great times growing up...whenever we're together we reminisce about the old days and laugh until we cry. Mostly thanks to Shea's and Joe's antics.

A SHOUT OUT to the Elmer clan! I love y'all!

1991 - How much do you LOVE those matching sweaters???
