He gets it from me.

Ty had a phenomenal freshman basketball season.
This kid has SKILLZZZ!
People always ask Spencer if the talent comes from him.
Um, duh.
He gets it all from me!

Ty on defense.
 Rebounding...this kid has hopps!
Totally from me.
 Strategizing :)
 Such form!
 Look at him fly!
Also from me.
 Great season, bubba!

And thanks to the awesome (unknown)
woman who shot these photos!

I heart...

...when  I don't have to set an alarm clock.
...when Spencer breaks out the lotion and says
"gimme your feet".
...when Tyler smiles with his sparkly eyes.
...when I'm not in a hurry and can walk up and down every aisle at Target.
...when I get a hard earned A in Anatomy class and I can rub it in to my kiddos.
...when Kyle talks in his sleep - awesome.
...when it's cold enough to see my breath.
...when Maddie belly laughs.
...when my toenails are beautiful.
...when I crawl in bed and Spencer has
my ice water waiting for me
 (he does it every night!!)
...when Rydger holds my hand.
...when I am reminded of how blessed I am to have such an amazing family and wonderful friends!!

Happy Heart Day!!

The follow up...

Possible spoiler alert:

I just realized that I never followed up on The Hunger Game series after I devoured all three in about six days.  Totally amazing books.  I was sucked into that world and could barely decipher theirs from mine in my off-read time.

I was hoping that the series would be one that I could read to my kids - but it's much too violent for my Maddie - and I don't want to give Kyle any more ideas than his brain concocts all on its own.

LOVED the romance.  LOVED the characters.  LOVED the world.

Admittedly though, I did suffer some guilt.  How could I enjoy reading books with such a terrible plot? Seriously - kids killing one another for other's entertainment???? However, I did pick up on the seriousness of the message - and it was powerful!

All said and done - if you love good writing and characterization - MUST READ!! However, not for the sensitive....

Thanks for indulging me.

H-E-Double Hockeysticks

When I lived in the Northwest I was grateful each day
to reside in what I considered to be HEAVEN.
When I found out we were moving to Houston,
recalling my brief senior year experience
20 years earlier, well,
I was pretty sure that was the opposite of heaven.

You know how people for emphasis
state the impossible by saying
"When (a certain place) freezes over?"

 This is HOUSTON people,
And I think it might be freezing over.
Just sayin'.

Happy 101st!

My sweet Granny has been in heaven
for three years.
How I miss this fun lovin' woman!!
Her birthday is today-
She would have been 101!

Miss you, Sweet Granny.

crazy boy

It was 28 degrees outside last night.
I dared Ty - for $10 - to jump in the hot (frozen) tub
and stay under the water for 10 seconds.
He made it for 4 seconds before his lungs
and brain felt like they were going to
implode.

He didn't make 10 seconds.
Should I pay up?

Growin' up

My baby lost his first tooth!
And in the nick of time, too.
I was leaving for CA on Thursday eve
& informed him there was
NO WAY
my baby was losing his first tooth
while I was gone.
This fella did what it took to get
that sucker out before I left.
Atta boy, Rydger!
Bitter-sweet, I tell you.
